Yes. Uploading your bill and getting a plain English explanation is completely free. No account needed. We earn a commission if you choose to switch supplier via our comparison links — but the explanation is always free, regardless.

Is my energy bill safe to upload?

Your bill is processed entirely in memory and deleted the moment we finish reading it — typically within 8 seconds. It is never written to disk, never stored in a database, and we use a no-store instruction on every AI API call. Only 5 anonymised data points are retained: your kWh usage, unit rate, supplier name, postcode district, and property type.

You upload your energy bill (PDF or photo). BillLuma reads it using AI, extracts the key numbers, and explains what each one means in plain English. It then compares your usage and costs to similar homes in your area and tells you whether your bill looks reasonable — in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can upload your bill and get a full explanation without creating an account or giving us your email address. We ask for your email afterwards if you'd like us to track your bills over time or alert you when a better deal appears.

Yes. BillLuma works for renters and homeowners alike. If you're a renter, your energy bill explanation works exactly the same way. If you want to switch supplier, you can do that too — renters are free to switch energy suppliers in the UK, regardless of your tenancy agreement.
